Green Storm

Description

The popular Sturm Longfill by Kapka's Flava (Germany) looks pretty exciting on its picture and the description is like the picture. Short description of it is: vanilla ice cream with woodruff syrup and a sour green apple and cooling. Unfortunately it does not even taste close to this description in my opinion. So i made it myself as i thought it should taste. So what you will get with this recipe is mainly a mix of woodruff with a green apple in a milky vanilla ice cream. The cream from the vanilla ice cream seems to add something like a body to the green apple. I like adding the SSA Milkshake dairy type to their ice cream vanilla as this results into a nice milky ice cream. As WS-23 does not really mix with the ice cream very well, i did not add it to the recipe. It would taste more like a ice cubes swimming on top of the ice cream. But you can do it, if you would like to of course. Due to the fact, that Herrlan flavours are mainly available in Germany and other woodruff flavours are not even close to this one, it will be a bit of work to replace it. Herrlan woodruff is a high concentrated flavour. So you will probably have to use more. Inawera Woodruff will probably something around 4%. Additionally other woodruff flavours need up to 8 week steep time to get rid of their off notes, while Herrlan is not really becoming much better after 1-2 weeks. It is slightly improving after 4-8 weeks, but it is not really worth mentioning it. To improve the taste of some woodruff flavours it might be a good idea to add just a little bit menthol to the mix. Just a very small quantity so you would not even notice its taste. Something like 0,1% or so. Or just a drop or a few more depending on the mixed quantity. Adjust the sweetener to your personal preference.
