Vapour Mountain Red Pill | Remix
Description
A friend of mine couldn’t get hold of this liquid anymore so I decided to give it a go since the profile sounded simple enough and I thought that it would be easy to deduce what flavors were used from [Vapour Mountain’s description](https://vapourmountain.co.za/shop/longfill/vm-redpill-longfill/):
> Crushed mixed berries, delicate sweet litchi, elderflower and a dash of menthol. The flavour comes across slightly sweeter and fuller than our XXX e-liquid, but with a slight jammyness that’s finished off by our cool refreshing menthol ice.
Mixed berries screamed either **FA Forest Fruit Mix** or CAP Harvest Berry to me. I had my friend test both and he much preferred FA so we went with that. I’m not sure if they used an extra flavor for the “jamminess” and, if that were the case, it couldn’t have been **FLV Jammy Berry** since it didn’t exist at the time that Red Pill was released, but I added it because it fits in perfectly.
It also seems pretty obvious that “delicate sweet litchi” is **CAP Sweet Lychee**. I would gladly have combined it with FE Lychee to refine that layer but that would have forced my buddy to order it separately from Flavor Jungle so I just left it as is.
My first iteration had FA Forest Fruit Mix at 4% without FLV Jammy Berry and CAP Sweet Lychee at 3% but it was too heavy on the berries and, according to my friend, the lychee is more prominent in the original liquid so I increased CAP Sweet Lychee to 4% and decreased FA Forest Fruit Mix to 3%, especially considering that it’s now being boosted by FLV Jammy Berry at 0.5% (just enough to give that “crushed” syrupy texture).
I suppose that they used TFA Elderflower but I don’t have it so I replaced it with **FLV Elderflower**, which is better anyway and compliments the lychee nicely.
I initially went with 1% **FW Menthol** but my friend told me it was much too strong compared to the original so we dialed it down to 0.25%. I don’t have it so I used SA Menthol Crystal at the same percentages and indeed at 1% the mint completely overtakes the mix whereas it sits nicely in the background at 0.25%.
Finally I used 0.25% **CAP Super Sweet** and even that was too sweet for me but my buddy enjoyed it at 0.75%, which didn’t surprise me since Vapour Mountain mentioned that this liquid is sweeter than another one in their lineup. I settled on 0.5% but as always, adjust sweetener to your preference.
Off the shake the elderflower is quite strong and the menthol is barely noticeable. After 24 hours all I can taste is the mixed berries. Everything comes together after 3 days so I do recommend waiting a little bit before digging in.
We tested this recipe MTL, myself on a Dvarw MTL FL 22 mm RTA with the 1.2 mm single hole air pin and a 2.5 mm ID, 5 wrap, 3x32/40 Ni80 fused clapton coil from WireOptim at 18 W, and my buddy on his Kayfun Lite (2019).Recipe
